STANDARD 1: Regulatory Compliance

1.1 Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations

 1.The dental organization shall comply with applicable national laws and regulations related to the dental health and safety of patients.

2.The dental organization shall meet all applicable licensing standards established by a governing ministry of health or other appropriate authority.

3.In the absence of a national requirement addressing a specific issue of quality care, the requirements of this standard shall apply. This shall include requirements that exceed or expand those of national law.

1.2 Licensure and Certification 

1.The dental organization shall have a policy in place to assure that personnel are licensed and meet any other applicable standards that are required by applicable national laws, regulations, or this standard. These shall include a current license, required permits, and documentation on on-going continuing dental education.
